Position Description The duties of Packer provides the final step for the completion of the total door package before shipment to the customer, ensuring the highest quality and care is taken to exceed customer expectations and satisfaction.
This position packs finished product in accordance with standard packaging procedures, while maintaining quality standards and efficient production.
Major Areas of Responsibility Major areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:
Awareness and adherence to all safety rules and regulations; work in a safe manner at all times.
Take the initiative to report any safety concerns to the supervisor or member of management immediately.
Visually inspect finished product for dents, dings and heavy scratches.
Mark any areas of the final product that is non-conformant.
Notify Quality of line lead/supervisor if questionable product is found.
Careful packaging of the product to ensure that it will arrive without damage to the customer.
Follow the packaging procedures as defined by the Company.
Other duties as assigned by the Production Supervisor and/or Production Manager.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities This position requires the following essential knowledge, skills and abilities in order to satisfactorily fulfill the Packer role:
Detailed oriented using fine visual and manual skills.
The ability work in a fast-paced environment for an extended period of time.
The ability to read and understand process control documents.
Education and Experience High school diploma or GED required.
Other:
Positive attitude; self-motivated.
Reliable and well-disciplined; ability to work well with others and follow instructions.
Physical Demands While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear.
This is a walking position for up to 10 hours per day on a concrete factory floor.
Ability to lift 50 or more pounds both overhead and at waist level.
The position requires continuous moderate or occasional heavy physical activity due to lifting packed door headers onto a rolling cart for up to 10 hours per day.
The employee is required to walk, reach with arms and hands.
Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles.
Exposure to intermediate/loud noise is expected when working in the manufacturing environment.
The work environment is climate controlled.
